Every once in a while a unique property becomes available.  This custom log home was built by the owner, in 2007.  The 100 acre site is mountain side in Great North Mountain Wilderness, in northern Frederick County. Elevations here run to about 1400’ above sea level.  The land is all wooded, with just enough cleared beneath the home site to pick up some long range mountain views.  There are paths to the top of the land, where it touches onto the thousands of acres of The Capon Springs Resort.  The National Forest is also in close proximity, but you do have your own 100 acres to explores, hunt, enjoys!  The home is built on a basement wall system, insulated, wired and sheetrocked, ready to finish as you desire.  The utilities are located in the unfinished basement, including the washer and dryer.  The special setup pushes water through the hot water tank and actually feeds into lines of the floor (heated floors).  This does cover the basement floor as well as the flooring on the main level.  The owner would be happy to explain how this setup works.  On the main level, there is a propane wall unit as well as a free standing woodstove (which would heat the main and upper levels very efficiently supplemented by the floor heat).  You can enter into the house though the basement (side entrance) or around through the front door at the covered front porch.  In the foyer, the kitchen is off to one side while the stair well going up, is to the other side. There is a half-bath just off the foyer.  Ahead is the greatroom, with exposed log and vaulted, pine ceiling. Open beams are also here along with an open view of the upper walkway between the upstairs bedrooms.  There is a wall of glass looking out the back, with fantastic views.  A dining area is off to one side, also offering views through the wall of glass.  The adjoining kitchen has an abundance of Maple cabinetry, plenty of countertop workspace, tile flooring and a breakfast bar. The master bedroom is on this main level. This room is a nice size, and has direct access to the master bath.  The bath has a corner whirlpool tub, a standup shower and a pedestal sink.  The stairway off the foyer leads to two upstairs bedrooms along with a hall bath. Each bedroom has dormer windows offering mountain views, and both have adequate storage space.  The flooring throughout the house is laminated, except for the tiled kitchen and baths.  Exposed wood surfaces throughout the home give you a warm, comfortable feeling.  A true “mountain home”.   The drive from the main road up the mountain is about 2 miles.  This is fairly easy access, to the subdivision gate.  The gate has been locked in; the past, is still in place, but neighbors desire the gate to be left (south) unlocked.  This is a rural mountain location with pretty much only local traffic.  The gate to the neighbors to the south remains locked (Great Mountain Lane).  The driveway to this property is the `1st driveway to your left, inside the gate on Outback Tr.  Standard vehicles can navigate to the driveway just fine (no 4WD needed unless roads are snow covered).  The driveway up to the house is somewhat steep.  4WD would be recommended if snow or ice covered.  The owner does have various pens around the property;  pigs, chickens.  The owner has a couple small sheds around the house, but does have a polebarn/garage measuring 30x20 with a concrete floor and overhead door, making a terrific garage/workhop.  Mountain living isn’t for everyone, but if you enjoy your privacy and desire to have acreage, this one might be one to consider.  ASK ME FOR MORE PHOTOS.   There ae HOA dues here;  $300 annually to help maintain the roads.  Annual real estate taxes paid to Frederick County, VA are $2582.  The MLS# is VAFV157314.  The listing price is $449,900.
