Every once in a while I come across something really unique.  This chalet is a “LINDAL CEDAR HOME”, fabricated from a kit back in the late 1960s.  This home was planned and fabricated from the actual manufacturer LINDAL.  The exterior surfaces are actual Cedar, and they still look great over 50 years later.  This home has been a weekend place for this one-owner home.  Not large, but very comfortable at 756 sq.ft. finished.  The exterior is also Cedar, with an architectural shingle roof (replacement roof0.  Leading from the front deck into the front door, you can’t help but notice the walls, flooring, ceiling (& beams) all surfaces, of Cedar.  Fairly compact, the livingroom has a freestanding, woodburning fireplace, front picture window, galley style kitchen (very functional), full bath and a main level bedroom.  A staircase leads from the livingroom to two upstairs bedrooms.  Again, unique with Cedar everywhere. At the top of the steps, notice the thickness of the flooring.  The two bedrooms both have closets, and spacious enough under the eaves for a good amount of storage.  The back hall leads to a screened porch.   The home has baseboard heating.  The property is on a community water system and has it’s own septic system.  The home is at the end of the lane within this community of Shawneeland.  Shawneeland is within a “sanitary district”  whereas Frederick County (VA) maintains the roads and collects an annual fee ($660) to maintain the roads.  The roads are paved right to the driveway of the property.  This home is situated on 4 lots within the subdivision.  The lots are combined for tax savings.  Annual taxes to Frederick County VA is $472.14     Add the annual Sanitary District fee of $660.00 for road maintenance.  This is really an interesting property and the chalet style fits well.  Shawneeland has a community lake (Cherokee Lake) with a beach area.  Canoe, paddle boat, swim, fish in the 15 acre lake, along with playground and picnic areas.  The property is not within the MLS system and the owner doesn’t wish to post the physical address of the property, desiring to have an appointment to visit.  The home is located close to the entrance, within a mile’s walk to the lake and beach.  The price for the property is $179,900.  You really need to visit to appreciate what this property has to offer.
